Air fryer sweet potato slices are an easy side dish that is perfect for a weeknight dinner or holiday meal. You can make them savory or sweet, I will show you how to season them both ways!
This is a heart healthy recipe that you should try! Air frying is a great way to prepare crispy veggies without using a lot of oil. Sweet potatoes add a pop of color from carotenoids and the spices add additional antioxidants for heart health support.

What You’ll Need
Ingredients:
- 1-2 sweet potatoes
- 1-2 tablespoons olive oil, avocado oil, or nonstick spray
- For sweet potato slices that are savory:
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder or 1 clove of fresh crushed garlic
- dash of salt
2. For sweet potatoes slices that are sweet:
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ginger powder
- dash of salt

- Air fryer

- 2 large bowls
How to Make Air Fryer Sweet Potato Slices
First, preheat your air fryer to 350 degrees. While the air fryer is preheating, wash the sweet potatoes well. No need to peel them, the skin contains fiber, vitamins, and minerals.
Next, grab a cutting board and knife. Thinly slice the sweet potatoes.
Next, transfer the sweet potato slices to a large bowl. Add the oil and desired spices. To make savory, season with smoked paprika, garlic powder and a bit of salt. For sweet seasoning, season with cinnamon, ginger powder, and a bit of salt. Stir well.
After the sweet potatoes are stirred and evenly covered in spices, put them in the air fryer basket.
Air fry the sweet potatoes for 15 minutes. When they are done, transfer them to a serving dish and enjoy!
Variations
- I personally enjoy savory sweet potato slices with smoked paprika, garlic powder, and salt, but there many other spices you could use instead. You may want to try onion powder, curry powder, chili powder, or even cayenne pepper for a spicy kick!
- If you want to make the sweet potato slices at an even sweeter level, you could coat them with a sprinkle of sugar or maple syrup in addition to the cinnamon and ginger.
- If you do not have an air fryer or just prefer cooking in the oven, you certainly could cook your sweet potato slices in the oven. I would recommend preheating the oven on 350-400 degrees and cook them for 20-30 minutes.

Ingredients
- 2 sweet potatoes
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or nonstick spray

- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- dash salt

- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ginger powder

Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees.
- Wash well with water and slice the sweet potatoes.
- Put half the sliced sweet potatoes into two bowls.
- Add a tablespoon of olive oil to each bowl.
- Add the savory seasonings to one bowl and the sweet seasonings to the other bowl.
- Put either the sweet or savory sweet potato slices into the air fryer basket and cook for 15 minutes. Once done, remove the sweet potato slices from the air fryer basket and transfer to a serving dish.
- Repeat with the other bowl of sweet potato slices.
